HOW IT ALL FITS

Put the days together

Slow mornings

Sherman's for a deli breakfast, or Azúcar poolside. On weekends, take brunch up to Azúcar's rooftop.

Joshua Tree day

There's no food in the park, so pack snacks and water. Come back hungry for Azúcar's dinner service.

ATV day

Head out early with a full tank. A Sherman's sandwich to go makes the long drive back sweeter.

Pamper afternoon

Mani-pedi downtown, then a patio lunch at Las Casuelas under the misters.

Thursday night

Dinner at Las Casuelas, GiGi's or Tac/Quila, then VillageFest, the galleries and photos at the sign and Marilyn.

Canyon morning

Hit Indian Canyons when the gate opens, then Sherman's for a well-earned deli lunch.

Sunset finale

Ride the tram up in the late afternoon, eat at the top, and come down after dark.

Tuesday or Wednesday

Las Casuelas is closed, so Tac/Quila (open 7 days) is the call. Order the mushrooms.

WHEN TO GO

September to May is the sweet spot. June to August is extremely hot, with July highs averaging around 106°F. Plan desert outings for mornings.

GETTING THERE

From Los Angeles: about 107 miles, roughly 2 hours east on I-10. From San Diego: about 120 to 140 miles, 2 to 2½ hours depending on route.

CLOSED DAYS

VillageFest is Thursday nights only. Las Casuelas closes Tue and Wed, Bliss Chakra closes Wed, and GiGi's is listed closed Mon to Wed. Tac/Quila and Sherman's are open every day.
